My top 5 favourite place card styles

Ohh Place Cards… How I adore you. Place Cards, Name cards, Place Names, whatever you like to call them, they are my most favourite piece of stationery to make for any event. Why? Simply because of these 3 reasons:

  1. It’s personal. Who doesn’t love anything personalised JUST for them?

  2. There’s something for everyone. Place cards say to your guests ‘Hey! I’m so glad you’re here, I’ve made a space just for you!’

  3. The names! I love seeing all the beautiful and interesting names that come through on the list.

Just to be clear, writing 30 + place cards is no easy task, but I do enjoy it! It causes me to stop, slow down and gives me a small insight to who you’ve chosen that’s near and dear to your heart to share this special occasion with you.
So here’s my top 5 favourite place cards to create. I hope you get inspired!

Classic Flat with Silk Ribbon
A firm popular in 2024, these adorned many a wedding breakfast table. The silk ribbon gives your table that added feel of luxury and class. One of my most favourite to make, as it really encompasses the modernity of now and the essence of the vintage era. Most of my couples go for the traditional flat white place card with black silk ribbon, making their wedding decor timeless and modern at the same time (obviously the reason why it’s my favourite). I absolutely love the flexibility of it, the ability to use a range of colours and being able to get a silk ribbon to match. Silk ribbons give such a luxurious feel to stationery.

Wax Seal
As you can probably tell, I LOVE a wax seal, it just screams class, elegance and timeless. Wax seals have made a big and bold come back, and I am so excited to see how it will be used in the future. The perfect example of modern meets vintage, these place cards evoke a sense of old-world charm and elegance. The gentle curve of the arch creates a visually stunning effect, drawing the eye to each guest's name and then lovingly sealed with wax, serving as a symbol of refinement and tradition. You can personalise wax seals with your initials or bespoke wedding emblem, to sync your wedding invites with your on the Day stationery.

Frosted Acrylic
Acrylic place cards (& signage), a new and popular choice with couples recently, frosted acrylic stationery seems to be one of the most chosen pieces for weddings in 2023., making them my 2nd most requested item after the traditional card. I have fallen in love with them, and their gorgeous charm. I absolutely love the opportunity to use frosted acrylic, combining it with Silk ribbon or lace to soften any wedding breakfast table. My favourite is the frosted acrylic, as it’s a little more kinder to our planet, being able to source 100% recycled frosted acrylic place cards & signage has been a real best seller.

The Classic Flat

A Timeless piece, and the most adaptable, the classic flat place card still is one of the most requested place cards for On the Day stationery. These can be shaped literally however you want, with a vast variety of coloured card stock and inks to choose from, the possibilities are endless!

There you have it, my most favourite place cards for any wedding dinner table. I hope this has inspired you, to help you with adding those perfect finishing touches to your most intimate events. If you’d love to talk place cards and more, feel free to get in touch! I love to supply couples with samples to help them make their decisions.
