My Favourite Wedding Invitation Wordings

So you’ve decided on a design for your wedding invitations, hooray! But now it’s time to think about wedding invitation wording. Keep it traditional, or be as creative as you like, but remember there are some some elements to an invitation that should always be in included.

What wording should you include in your wedding invitations

β€œSo, what do I need to include?” I hear you ask!

To highlight the essentials I’ve broken it down to what you need.
All wedding invitations should include the following and in this order:

  • Who is hosting your wedding
Usually for formal affairs, the brides parents are at the top, but to collaborate you could write β€œtogether with their parents,”

  • The (polite) request to come to the wedding
e.g β€œrequests the pleasure of your company”

  • The names of the couple getting married
For more traditional invitations, the name of the bride always precedes the groom’s name.

  • Date and time
Formal wording: written out in full, year is optional- no numerals
    Informal weddings: Numerals are fine.

  • Location of where the ceremony is taking place
To keep the main invitation simple, add the full address of the location to a β€˜finer details/ guest information’ card.

  • Reception venue information (if different to ceremony location)

  • Dress code (e.g formal attire, colour code requests/objections)

  • Separate RSVP Card
Always provide your guests a way to RSVP. Whether they fill it out and return in the post, or via a wedding website this should be on your RSVP details card.
